To be fair, he probably inflicted more pain on himself than on anyone else, but then, he was probably being a bit harder on himself than many in the race. Racing is pain... if you really want to do something special.
Hally already made his intentions clear in the scratch race where he and Alex Edmondson were two of the main agressors then he backed up with the gutsiest ride in the points score. Taking a lap with Alex Edmondson before losing out narrowly on a medal. When we say WITH Edmondson, what we really mean is basically on his own behind Edmondson. That was the thing that was probably most impressive. Stephen didn't get on the wheel and follow Edmondson. Those who watched the race saw Hally chase for lap after lap on his own to finally get on terms with Edmondson just before he caught the main bunch. No medal for Hall, but the most memorable ride. That man is a beast.
